The Year Ahead
There's no doubt 2009 will be a challenge for many - we are having to start the year with a review of our some of our pricing and prize support (see Notice to Customers which is also available as a flyer in the shop). We are confident, though, that we can ride the storm and, with your help, further develop and expand the complete gaming experience at The Games Shop!
So what about some positive news as we enter 2009! We are pleased to welcome AVGaS (Alder Valley Games Society) into our shop, a well established gaming group in the area for more than 25 years. Their regular gaming sessions are on Tuesday and Friday evenings, and Sunday afternoon/evenings. Why not come along to one of their sessions and participate in the wide variety of gaming activity that they arrange?
Also new for 2009 is The Spoils Trading Card Game, which makes a welcome return to our gaming schedules from early February 2009 - look out for further exciting announcements about this stunning TCG in the coming weeks...
Look out for lots of new sets in the coming months: expansions sets for Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, L5R, Magic The Gathering and World of Warcraft are all scheduled for the first three months of 2009.
So as you can see - there's lots to look forward to: we are also introducing new 'Super Sunday' monthly tournaments for our main trading card games from early February - again look out in store for future announcements.

Playing in a Kniziathon is a great way to enjoy a variety of Reiner Knizia's games in one place at one time. There are lots of games to try - from classics to the most recent releases (and even some which you might never have come across before). There are plenty of willing opponents and friendly organisers to help you with the rules. It's the perfect opportunity to meet games players and enjoy exciting games - and if you are doing well, you might even win a prize!
Our Kniziathon starts at 10:30am, with the last game of the day commencing at 5:30pm and prizes awarded around 6:30pm.
Cost: £3.50 to enter the Kniziathon itself and guarantee your place, or you can try out some of the many games on offer for FREE!

Some Great News for Pokemon Players!
What a start to 2008 for Pokemon players - not only have we re-started our Saturday morning League which now runs weekly, but we are pleased to announce three Premiere events:
City Championships on 2nd February and 29th March, 2008
Great Encounters Pre Release on 9th February, 2008

Babylon 5: Call To Arms Comes to TGSA
We are happy to announce the first major Babylon 5 event since our re-launch last summer. A group of players now meets every other Sunday at noon and have organised 'Bridgehead Armageddon' to be held on Saturday, 16th February: we have had to limit the number of players to 20 who have already pre-registered. If you are interested in joining our fortnightly group please contact us.

Qualifiers for the next Invitational (mid April) begin on Saturday, 5th January at 5pm and there will be a chance to become a finalist in our Saturday Spoils slot every Saturday.
